This qualification reflects the role of individuals who perform sales-related tasks in the automotive service and repair sector.

Delivery mode Delivery will be face-to-face combined with industry assessments. Sessions will consist of workplace visits, demonstration discussions and written assessments. Students will be implementing skills acquired in the course and be assessed in a holistic manner in the workplace. Theory sessions and practical observations are structured to meet this course’s essential outcomes of competency and employability skills.
Duration The program delivery will be scheduled over approximately 40 weeks with 7 weeks break.

RTO requirements

Training and assessments are conducted in English. Applicants must possess sound is written and oral English skills. You will be required to complete a Pre-training and Language Literacy and Numeracy Assessment.

Training Package

There are no pre-requisite or any other training package entry requirements to enrol in this course.

  • Domestic: 33 weeks

Pathways into the qualification

Credit will be granted towards this qualification to those who have completed AUR21112 Certificate II in Automotive Sales in this Training Package or other relevant qualifications.

Pathways from the qualification

Further training pathways from this qualification include AUR40112 Certificate IV in Automotive Management or other relevant qualifications.

Employment or occupational pathway

The Certificate III in Automotive Sales prepares new employees or recognises and develops existing workers who are performing general sales and marketing functions in an automotive retail, service or repair business.
Job roles related to this qualification include:

Units of study

To be awarded this qualification, competency must be demonstrated in 20 units of competency, consisting of:

  • 10 core units plus
  • 6 specialist elective units in one of the selected specialist groups relating to occupational streams plus 4 general elective units, of which:
    1. up to 4 elective units may be chosen from the electives listed below.
    2. up to 4 elective units may be chosen from a Certificate II qualification or above in this Training Package or another endorsed Training Package or accredited course, provided that the units chosen contribute to the vocational outcome of this qualification and do not duplicate the outcome of another unit chosen for the qualification

Assessment Methods

Each unit will be assessed by a minimum of three (3) types of assessment:

  • Written theory questions
  • Oral theory questions
  • Practical task activities
  • Observation
  • Third-party report

(Note: Written, Practical and observation assessments must be carried out).

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)/Credit Transfer

You can apply for recognition of prior learning, academic credit and work experience towards this qualification. During the course of your life you will develop a wide range of skills and knowledge. You are building up a bank of knowledge through work, volunteer roles, family commitments, and various tasks undertaken in everyday life. The evidence of these skills and knowledge accumulated can be used to help you gain a qualification. Example: Mark has been working as a motor mechanic in a workshop for 5 years, he never did get around completing his qualification, his employer asks him to complete his Certificate III in Automotive, but he wasnʼt keen to study. In this case scenario, MITT can help Mark through the process and he could complete his qualification in less than a year.
